High-security keys are keys that are protected from replication – meaning they can’t easily be cut by an unauthorised person. They come in two types: patented and restricted keys.

Patented keys are the preferred choice, as they have several layers of security, making them the highest security keys available. They can only be cut by authorized dealers and the customer may be asked to show ID and proof of property ownership before the key is cut (an ID card is often given when the lock is originally fitted.) The copy-protection of high-security keys works mainly through restriction of the availability of the key blank. Your local key-cutter won’t have the required blank and therefore cannot duplicate the key.

Our EPS High-Security Key has a multiple-overlap key profile, 5 active scanning components, unique indents carved into the bit, double-action pins for optimum security and more, to help keep your key secure. It also has an integrated check for tampering and is legally protected by copying protection, security card and patents. Most high-security keys will have a unique number engraved on them, so if they get lost, they’re easy to return.

Our Gege High-Security Key is anti-drill, anti-snap, anti-pick, anti-bump and simple to retrofit. Its patent protects against the unauthorised owning of key blanks, preventing illegal key copying and the keys can be keyed alike – allowing different locks to be opened by a single key.

Restricted keys can only be cut by an authorised dealer, making it unlikely that any strangers would be able to replicate them. However, restricted keys aren’t protected by law in the same way that patented keys are.

At Ironmongery Experts, we offer a secure user manageable key registration system. This system is designed to offer complete control to property owners. To order keys, you will now have to register a new account or login with an existing account. The videos below explain how the system works for different users.
